Rewarding
Jesus H. Christ! What in hell is going on in the world today? Well, to tell you the truth it’s not much different than what has been going on in it the past 5,000 years; war, famine, political uprisings, educational advances (with exception of the Tea Party), and greed.
Wow! I’ve managed to insult quite a few people in my first couple of sentences. Oh well, they’ll get over it, and if they don’t, who cares? They don’t have to read my blog. Back to the point at hand. The world is screwed up, has been, and always will be. As long as there are human beings inhabiting this big blue rock, this world will continue as it has for millennia. We would like to think that through education and technological advancement that we as a species have evolved into rational thinkers and transcend our animalistic tendencies. WRONG! People want money and power and a lot of them will stop at nothing to gain these. How can we transcend such avarice when we simply have no common acceptable code of ethics and morality?
Religion seems to be one of the prevalent factors getting in the way of this. It seems that despite the fact that most religions have the same underlying goal, peaceful harmony among mankind, there are those who continue to misuse religion for their own gain. Islam, Judaism, Christianity, et al. all have their fanatics. These fanatics ruin it for everyone. I would love to see religion be banned globally, but the truth is people will create some other form of distinctive identity just so that we can prove how different we are from others. Hell, we have different political parties, different schools of philosophical thought, etc. Why not allow religion into the mix?
The answer is not an easy one, but I think the real issue is that the majority really doesn’t see or understand the problem. We’ll never get close to finding any answer to the cliche of world peace until everyone agrees as to what and where the problems are. And by inductive principal, no one will ever agree on anything. So, in my best cynical words, I guess we just have to deal with stupidity, injustice, fanaticism, and overall disarray.
Now, when is the next deadly asteroid expected to hit Earth?
Superiority
I don’t think that I am better than everyone else…just some. Let’s face it, it’s not too difficult; society doesn’t exactly set the bar too high. I’m proud of my accomplishments and I have achieved more than others. No, it wasn’t luck, it was hard work. Enough about me already, at least for now. Let’s talk about how we as a society have let people think they are better than us when in fact, they are not. Like my previous article, Rewarding, we have let celebrities rise upon pedestals to look down at us. We’ve come to let ourselves believe that money dictates superiority. We’ve completely ignored the factor of intelligence.
Another group of people that we’ve come to accept as superiors are our politicians. Politicians fall into the category of public servants. The keyword being servants. Really, I look at all levels of government, from municipal to federal, and these fuckers really believe they are superior to us. They’re not! They are our servants! They are our subordinates, not superiors. It’s like Queen Lizzy getting up every morning to cook and clean for her staff. When we relinquish our power we have to deal with the consequences of that power being used against us. Somewhat like giving somebody your gun and then they shoot you with it. Crazy, huh?
Well, my fellow Americans, this is exactly what we are dealing with today. We’ve given our guns to our politicians so they can shoot us all while under the guise of accepting a falsity that they are our superiors. So, METAPHORICALLY (and if you don’t know what that means, look it up or quit reading this article because you are too stupid and unworthy of a lot), it’s high time we take our guns back and fire back at our politicians. Make them work for us and not against us. Make them do the job for which they’ve VOLUNTEERED or we will remove them from their post. Our voting rights give us ultimate SUPERIORITY, and with it however, comes great responsibility. Like most things, if you don’t use it, you WILL lose it.
It will take ALL of us to just swallow and gulp down any cynicism that we have and go out and vote. Vote for what YOU believe in, not someone else. Don’t waste your vote. Many of you go out wanting to vote for a “lost cause” and settle on who think has the most chance of winning. That’s not responsible. Vote your heart and not your statistics. We have to let these political reprobates know that they are no longer superior to us and not everyone wants to see them in office. If there are no candidates that you like, then write in one. Voice your opinion. When you settle on your choice, you’re handing over your gun. You’re letting yourself become inferior.
Now, off to tell the boss-lady that yes, she can have my credit card for shopping …
